StatCounter - Now 5 Times Better - FREE!
Hi folks,
We’ve been busy in the background optimising our systems to allow us to bring you even more for FREE.
We’re very pleased to let you know today that every StatCounter project now comes with a log size of 500 - you guessed it - FREE!
This means that you can now drill down into the detail of the last 500 pageloads on your site. And, of course, you still have LIFETIME summary stats on ALL your visitors.

Here’s what we did:
-
We took the old free log size of 100 and multiplied it by 5 to give you even more info on your visitors. Please note that this increase applies to ALL StatCounter members, and to ALL projects!
Here’s what you have to do now:
- Free Members:
To increase your log size, log into StatCounter and click the wrench icon beside your project. Click ‘Adjust Log Size’, and enter 500 in the box. Click ‘Adjust Project Log’ and you’re done!
- Upgraded Members:
To increase your log-size, log into StatCounter and click the wrench icon beside your project. Click ‘Adjust Log Size’, and increase your log by an extra 400 (your current log already includes the first free 100!). Click ‘Adjust Project Log’ and you’re done!
All the best,
The StatCounter Team
PS: StatCounter is the great service it is today as a result of the loyalty and support of you, our members. We couldn’t have done it without you!
With your continued support we hope to improve the service even further! Don’t forget that the more members we have, the more we’ll be able to give you FREE! So, if you like StatCounter, why not recommend us to your friends, family or anyone with a website???!!! Thanks folks!

Hi, I have been using Statcounter on my blog - http://amanjeev.blogspot.com since I started it back in 2003 but I have recently found out that your website is very slow. It was not always like this but I have been observing this lately. Please, if you could do something about it.
Thanks,
AJ
StatCounter Team Response:
Hi AJ,
We invest heavily in our server infrastructure and management to ensure extremely fast load times.
The next time you are experiencing a slow down can you send the URL of the page you are visiting to me. This way I can do a spot check and see what the problem is. I’ve sent you an email about this.
May 29th, 2007 at 3:04 am
Cool! Thanks a lot for this.
I have been using it for years now on my http://www.funny-potato.com website and this is great!
May 29th, 2007 at 3:11 am

May 29th, 2007 at 4:02 am
Adjusting the log size now! Thanks Statscounter for the big bump!
May 29th, 2007 at 4:10 am
Statcounter is excellent. What about a real time graph of visits and pagecounts. The visuals of a graph would be a big help.
StatCounter Team Response:
I’m confused Lawrence! Isn’t that exactly what the summary stats do at the moment?
May 29th, 2007 at 4:24 am
Now all you need to do is make the “referal URL’s” 5 times longer so we can see where people are coming from (without google search result referal URL’s coming back clipped & useless for example) and you’ve got a winner
Thanks for the update on the log size, but if you could address this long term problem, that’d really make statcounter the damage!
StatCounter Team Response:
Hi Bitcloud,
We allow referring URLs up to 150 characters to be stored in the database at the moment - this is plenty of room for most standard google search referral URLs. I checked your stats for richgentlemenhide.com and the full google referring URLs are all stored there.
What am I missing???
May 29th, 2007 at 4:25 am
Thanks StatCounter! I am VERY excited about this.
(Though, you all are so awesome that I’m almost not surprised.

Best counter in the internet!
However, it would be nice if caps sensitive usernames were removed, as it only makes it more confusing.
It really doesn’t help with the security too much.
Also, i have a question. If you upgrade to premium, will you be able to acess ALL data logged for your website?
Thanks, keep up the good work

Thanks!
May 29th, 2007 at 5:30 pm
Well here am I to say thank you. That’s the least I can do.
Since a few asked for a feature resquest while saying thank you I will do the same.
A few got an answer. What about a sort feature in our My Projects list so we can see them like we want them listed? How I solved it for now is beginning every project name with 1a, 1b, 1c, 2a, 3a, 3b, etc. so this way I see all project 1 for and sorted with the a, b and c then regrouped is project 2, etc. Not a big deal since one done you don’t touch it often but less funny when it’s time to do an insert.
Kudos!

Great work, very good service for me and my clients.
Most of them or just SMB and don’t have the money yet for full statistics.
Now I can work even better on optimizing there sites!
If have to go with Bitcloud on the referring URLs up to 150 characters limit.
For most search referrals that’s enough, but since I also get a lot of Google Image search referrals the link stops and I cannot see what people searched for…
But I am VERY happy with your service, now even 5 times happier

Much thank: The site I use StatCounter for does not get a tremendous amount of traffic, which I would not expect, given the nature of the site.
The site belongs to a non-profit organization, which has very limited funds; paying to upgrade StatCounter would not be a good use of those funds, which really need to be used in the park itself..
StatCounter has been quite helpful to us; we greatly appreciate the new limit of five hundred. Even with our limited traffic, this upgrade will help me keep the volunteer board better informed as to how the site is being used.

I’ve tried other counting and statistics services, and even with the 100 log limit Statcounter was always my favorite. With 500 free you are absolutely the best in the world.
Thank you very much.
May 30th, 2007 at 1:44 am
Yeh fine … but I decided to pay for the 1,000 and now you have effectively devalued my efforts by the same amount. Hmmmm, as a paying customer what do I think of that ….?
StatCounter Team Response:
Hi Russell,
We greatly appreciate the feedback. We also increased the log quota to 1,500 for your upgrade. So this combined with the free 500 log for your project now can give you a log size of 2,000 for your upgrade!
May 30th, 2007 at 1:48 am
When I switched to statcounter a few months ago, I loved all the features but not the small log size. You guys have effectively removed that barrier, and now I am 100% satisfied with the service I am getting for free. Thanks for all of your efforts towards this wonderful service!

Can you guide me on how to put a stat counter on my multiply site? I need steps that are easy to understand. thanks.
May 30th, 2007 at 7:33 am
Well, I have been saying that statcounter is the fest free webmaster utility available around.
Now it has got 5 times better, what can I compare it to?
I have used it for a site I run http://www.afs.uk.com to test various pages and adverts and found it to be excellent. As soon as I can afford it I will upgrade. Thanks a lot.
May 30th, 2007 at 7:38 am
Thanks, StatCounter just keeps getting better and better..
May 30th, 2007 at 8:08 am
Great news. This gives users the chance to get a better taste of statcounter’s long-term tracking qualities before upgrading to the logical next step beyond the free 500 which would be the 10000 extra logs for a suitable price. the 1000 should probably be reduced in price now because it’s not much better than the free service. webmaster will now be able to use statcounter more productively for free until they’re making enough online revenue to fund the 10,000 upgrade.
May 30th, 2007 at 8:20 am

May 30th, 2007 at 8:45 am
THANKS FOR YOUR SERVIS
May 30th, 2007 at 9:25 am
Personally I think this was the best move you have ever done, next to the Statcounter already being a superb tool. Reason for saying this, is that as I have family genealogy web site with an unusual name and does therefore not get so many hits, so paying a bit of money for not so many hits becomes a bit expensive for me. I also feel that having the 500 hits free will give me particularly, more time to evaluate things and get used to what happens and at the end of the 500 hits I will most likely just have to continue and would be happy to pay. Again my congratulations to an excellent program.
Kind regards form Down Under.

Thanks to all the team for your generous extension to 500 pages of the sites’ Project Log.
StatCounter has been infinitely useful in helping to design the optimum page flow on websites, and to redirect navigation pointers for maximum access to the less obvious sections, by polling the Statistics and chain of page browsing.
I make a point of introducing StatCounter to all my students who are engaged in producing Final Year Website Design on the Degree Course I teach, and I know they all will also greatly appreciate this service.

Happy to up the free hits to 500, but as soon as I did that, installation and configuration page said that I needed to put in a new code on my page. Your instructions didn’t say that I needed to do that. Did I do something wrong?
June 1st, 2007 at 5:59 pm
You don’t need to reinstall the code & I didn’t get that message, just follow instructions:
Free Members:
To increase your log size, log into StatCounter and click the wrench icon beside your project. Click ‘Adjust Log Size’, and enter 500 in the box. Click ‘Adjust Project Log’ and you’re done!
Thanks SC for upgrade!

Gents & lady womps, if any:
You have done a very savvy thing in stating that, in effect, if you are recieving this email you have an account with us. this is a useful touch as I have registered and re-registered with a number of sites, not remembering that I had previously registered.
My only suggestion is that you place your message near the place where the invitation to establish an account is posted. I almost re-registered with statcounter.
Bless,
Phil Euler

June 4th, 2007 at 1:24 am
Hi, I have been using your statcounter for 2 or3 months now. I works very well. I think it’s great. I didn’t know why but it stopped working a few weeks ago. I think that is because it was limted to only 100 max hits and it made me frustrated because there was no notice. Now, I am responding to your offer of 500 hits, for my new website. You can now discontinue service for my original site.
Thanks much. Keep up the good work.
Peter

June 8th, 2007 at 8:34 pm
I’m very very happy with stats counter. It helps me every Friday with my weekly report.
I just wanted to verify something with the recent 500 free log size. I followed the directions in the email and when I was done entering the 500, the next page told me that I did that but it wouldn’t work because I didn’t have the code inside my page. Is that new code (due to the 500), or is it wrong to point out that I don’t have code (because I really do!) Here’s the exact text as c/p’d from your site (this is after I entered 500 from the Adjust Log Size page):
How Does StatCounter Work?
Your project for “Select a Product Page-logged in” is correctly set up in our database. However this is completely useless to you! Yes, we cannot track your visitors if you do not install the code onto your website.
Click the “install code” link to get the code to install onto your website. We will be able to track all your visitors who visit the webpages where you installed the code. We can’t stress this enough, if you don’t install the code then there is nothing we can do for you. Your stats will be empty when you view them.
Not ready to install the code yet?…..
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Just wondering.
Thanks, Mary!!
StatCounter Team Response:
Hi Mary,
I’m not sure what was causing the trouble you had…never mind though - I’ve just manually changed all your projects to 500 for you.
Thanks for your support!
June 10th, 2007 at 6:12 am
the 500 is not much but is better than 100. I am expecting Statcounter to give more… especially for those paid member.. currently the 1,000 is really too little for paid member.
thanks
StatCounter Team Response:
The first upgrade is for 1,500 now, together with 500 free per project! Come on - that’s pretty good! Stay tuned as we do our best to provide our members with even more!
June 10th, 2007 at 6:48 am
With StatCounter, we can easily see how visitors access our web site, the visit length, visit time, where they come from, the pages viewed, the landing page and exit page, etc, of which a webmaster should know.
The StatCounter Team is also fantastic, they keep developing more and more useful features, such as adwords tracking integration, etc, into this must-have tool.
Of course, nothing is perfect, we did have some problem during the first couple of days integrating the StatCounter script with G’s analytics, however, the support team didn’t let us down, in a matter of 10-20 minutes, we got answers from them and thus solve the problem. Now everything runs smoothly, thanks to their prompt and professional response.

I really like statcounter esp after the 500 upgrade or records/stats. I was experiencing a little slowness lately but now it is much better.

Within the last few months statcounter has not shown my visitors path in much detail. it only shows the page and thats it. it used to tell me which photo albums they used to look at and even the individual photos/videos they opened! which was very handy. what am i doing wrong?

Thanks Team - I installed your code into our homepage for body language secret, and it’s always worked flawlessly.
