NEW: Restricted Public Stats

With StatCounter you have always had the option to make your StatCounter stats public. This feature allows you to provide visitors to your site with a link to view all your StatCounter stats.

Further to many requests we have now implemented Restricted Public Stats. This option allows you to provide visitors to your site with a link to view only the “Summary Stats” page of your StatCounter stats.

summary

To enable/disable public stats:

  • Log in to your StatCounter account.
  • Click the ‘lock’ icon beside your project name.

myprojects

  • Click your preferred option
    • Public Stats are Disabled
    • Only Summary Stats Are Public
    • All Stats Are Public
  • If you are making your stats public, note the URL to use to send visitors to your StatCounter account e.g.
    http://my.statcounter.com…project_id=xxxxxx&guest=1
  • Click ‘Upgrade Project Access’ and that’s it!

  3. The Year Zero Says:

Oh this will be great for blogs, good call! =)

  4. FrugalGuitarist.com Says:

This is awesome! If only you guys offered it as an embeddable widget (hint, hint).

  5. Hannes Says:

Pretty cool. This can be for example useful when you want to show advertisers how much traffic your site is getting.

  6. alief Says:

Thanks, the previous public stats will allow your rival to steal all your keyword and data T_T This could be handy ;)

  7. Dollar Dude Says:

Nice idea!!! I really like this idea for implementing into my blog. East or west, Statcounter is the best…

  15. ArabBible Says:

We appreciate you adding this option……..thanks Statcounter team………

  16. Write Articles Says:

I think it is wonderful, specially the sites receiving good traffic will be able to impress it’s user base without disclosing full stats. Small players will be able to show their gradual progress. Nice addition.

  17. 1800pocketpc.com Says:

    Nice work fellas

  18. Berkeley Says:

This will work well for blogs and other community websites. The entire social gathering around the website can watch the traffic, but only allowing the basics to show. This is an excellent idea. This addition could grow into more adjustments as far as public stats since it will surely be well received.

  19. My Journey Says:

Thanks for adding this feature! The Statscounter team never fails to put out great options and this is right up there!

  20. Viešbučių užsakymas Says:

Thanks. Frankly I haven’t seen the benefit of showing one’s stats to their visitors yet, but it may change with time - in which case the development will come in handy.

  21. John Fairweather Says:

The histograms look good, but the accompanying text leaves the impression that knowing your visitors’s IP addresses, you obviously could find out some details about them - which is indeed the case, wrt their PCs.

Unfortunately, this would not bode well for me and my sports websites, as the main visitors are those who play in our local league and who would quote the UK’s Data Protection Act to me.

However, I have produce my own statistical output (on my website), by producing an Excel Table, from monthly visitors.

  22. Seattle Inflatables Says:

I think that is a very powerful addition to the already great statcounter feature list, however, I think most people don’t use public stats at all. Maybe a little bit of promotion on why publicizing your stats could be a good thing (especially for advertising driven sites that need to sell people on how many visitors actually come).

  23. I need a better website Says:

I agree, I do wonder how many folks use the public stats feature. However I love statcounter and depend on it!

  24. Geek vs Nerd Says:

That’s neat. I’ve only used invisible counters so far, but I have shown off my visitors on a few sites in the past. Restricted public stats is one more argument for doing it, since the information revealed this way is at the minimum.

  25. Igrice Says:

Very good feature, thnx Statcounter! ;)

    good things

  56. RavenShadowWalker Says:

Everyone needs to keep in mind, that those of you that allow other ppl to view the stats in it’s entirity, you are placing many ppl at risk for cyber attacks…. If you click on the “receient page activity” tab, you’ll notice that the individual’s IP address is also listed…Though many are using a proxy, many more are not…With just the IP alone, if a person knows what they are doing, they can very easily wreck havoc….I’m not tring to tell you all how to manage your sites, but it’s just a word of warning…

    Blessed Be Peaceful Journey

  57. Geeko, Watchfocus Says:

If i ever need to display stats to public, i will choose restricted access. Not all stats should be make public as it may go either way. (My Views) Yes there is no harm in displaying number of visitors daily. i welcome “Summary Stats” feature of statcounter.
