Hi Folks,
New StatCounter System – In Beta
We have been working on the new and improved StatCounter SC4 system…now we need your help to test it.
A lot of changes have been made ‘under the hood’ and won’t be immediately apparent; however some of the immediate benefits include:
- Faster Loading Keyword and Country Stats
- Exit Link Stats
- Download Stats
MOST importantly the new system paves the way for other exciting new features … so watch this space!
How do I try out SC4?
It’s easy!
You need to create a new test project. This code should be added underneath your existing StatCounter code.
Note that you should retain your existing StatCounter code for now… Once the new system is fully operational we’ll convert all projects over to SC4 automatically.
To get started:
- Login to StatCounter with the “remember me” option
- Point your browser at this URL
http://my.statcounter.com/project/standard/add.php?sc4=1 - If successful the form should now read “BETA TEST SC4 PROJECT SETTINGS” then proceed as normal to install this new code below your current code.
(Note that if you logout and login again you will be directed back to the current StatCounter system.)
Thanks for your help with this – and we’d be delighted to have your feedback posted to the comments of this blog post.
UPDATE: Thanks for all the feedback so far. As the comments are getting a bit crowded we’ve created a new forum for you to discuss your ideas. Please click here to get talking about SC4! (Note: you need to register a forum account in order to post.)
Let the testing begin!

The map data are all wrong: Returning Visits is showing the browser version. Visit Length is showing the originating URL, a slash and then the word seconds – no figure. Exit and Entry Pages are the opposite way around. Entry Page Time is displaying the screen resolution. And so on … every field appears to have the data from a different field.
Can we get a graph showing visits by time of day??
It’s all good!
oops, well it did do – seems they fixed that one!
Maria, if you have a blocking cookie set it turns the counter to text and visible, its a glitch
Hi! I can translate anything you guys need to Brazilian Portuguese!
Henryk
hey — that’s not funny, I installed the invisible counter but it shows as text now
ok, installed the new one, now you guys hit on my website if you want me to comment on this new script
I don’t see anything interesting about the SC4 beta so far.
How about increasing the log size a little bit more, and redesigning the interface to make it more usable and faster.
Look at Google Analytics interface for example, it’s much better, no offense of course, just a thought.
I tried the same in my tech blog (beautifulminds.in) and its working.. but..! the previous stat and this new stat is showing a difference of 5 Hits… The new code is showing (Old code hits + 5).. Either the new one or the old one is responding badly.!
You guys are awesome and your product is excellent! Gladly added it to my site www.heart-of-zion.com
hey..
well done all..
totally dig the new features you’re adding…
I think it’s already been mentioned..
but the code screws up my other javascript…
I have a pop-up script that doesn’t work after I install the SC4 code..
keep it up
After ticking the remember me button it works perfect!

Hola Amigos,

Are there enough Japanese users to warrant a translation of the instructions into Japanese? If so, I would be happy to translate it as best as I can.
For now, I will try the beta!
I’d like also to participate testing SC4. I am already implementing the old version with my website at http://myk.cogia.net. As a comment, it works good and excellent.
