New StatCounter System – In Beta
We have been working on the new and improved StatCounter SC4 system…now we need your help to test it.
A lot of changes have been made ‘under the hood’ and won’t be immediately apparent; however some of the immediate benefits include:
- Faster Loading Keyword and Country Stats
- Exit Link Stats
- Download Stats
MOST importantly the new system paves the way for other exciting new features … so watch this space!
How do I try out SC4?
It’s easy!
You need to create a new test project. This code should be added underneath your existing StatCounter code.
Note that you should retain your existing StatCounter code for now… Once the new system is fully operational we’ll convert all projects over to SC4 automatically.
To get started:
- Login to StatCounter with the “remember me” option
- Point your browser at this URL
http://my.statcounter.com/project/standard/add.php?sc4=1 - If successful the form should now read “BETA TEST SC4 PROJECT SETTINGS” then proceed as normal to install this new code below your current code.
(Note that if you logout and login again you will be directed back to the current StatCounter system.)

I too established approximately one week ago, and now does not work…
The new code doesnt work now?????????
i just installed the code then went to my site and went to another site linked from mine and then checked the stats and it doesnt show that there was any traffic ?? ? ? ? ?
And also all the counters show that i have visits for just 5 sec
I installed the beta a week ago and now it’s not working. In the last 2 days the counter freezed. It worked well before?
sc4 stopped loging today at 17:43 (Brussels time) the SC3 is still loging!
How do I resolve this?
sc4 is now loging the double on my site.
This is great as I double my visitors from the sc3 to the sc4.

I also got 2 different IP-addresses for the same person!!! How is this possible??
Of course on the same computer! 😉
OK, I encountered the first problem/strange thing.
In the ‘old’ StatCounter I get two visits from Mountain view
In the beta I get two visits from New York and than one from Mountain view.
The times are the same in both.
Another thing is, in both systems, the visit time that is given is the time in between the first and the last visit, and not the time people spend at your site!?
I like it a lot! Nice site, I will bookmark!

I will be glad to help with testing and improving of BETA version.
With the BETA version, the Downloads report does not show those who download by using “Save Target as…” — it only shows a record of those who directly click on the link. This is not so helpful, as people want to save the PDF that we are offering on our site. Will this be changed to incorporate these people too?
I’ve joined the beta testing. Looks better than the old counter.
Now the visitors from de old and new counter are the same!
