Stout Performance by FF3

According to analysis conducted by us here at StatCounter, the Mozilla Firefox Guinness Book of Records attempt has been a major success in encouraging users to download Firefox 3.

Usage of Firefox 3 more than doubled between June 16th and 18th from 7.8% to 18.9%. Trend graphs are available here.

“The Firefox folks have certainly earned themselves a pint of Guinness,” commented Aodhan Cullen, CEO, StatCounter. “This is a major success in encouraging users to upgrade in a short period.”

We also found that the Guinness promotion seems to be having a generally positive effect on Firefox market share. The overall Firefox share of the browser market increased from 34.9% to 36% over the two day period while Internet Explorer fell slightly from 56.3% to 55.4%.

The StatCounter analysis was based on a sample of 55 million page views globally including 20 million US page views.

  1. Hey StatCounter
As you have access to so many stats from so many sites maybe you should make a summery of it all.
You could have a list of the most popular browsers, OS, ISP etc.

  3. Oh, I have always loved firefox. And will always use it. Only use IE to test my pages =p. More opensource to the people!

  4. I have both IE& and FF loaded on the ‘ol computer. I have to use them both for website testing. Personally, I prefer FF over IE because it seems to be alot less buggie and it loads waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy faster!!!
Thanks guys for supporting Fire Fox – its the better deal

  5. IE7 is not compatible with a few key sites I use day to day for work. I have to use Firefox to make things work right. IE7 has been crashing on my computer for months, I’ve reinstalled several times and Firefox continues to run bug-free.

  6. Long live FireFox! Although I have had a few quirks to work out between Firefox and Vista, I still love it. And how cool that StatCounter has access to so much data and can tell us stuff like that. Sweet!
