Chrome Grabs 1% in One Day!

According to research conducted by us here at StatCounter, Google’s new browser, Chrome, has taken 1% of the global browser market within a day of launch.

Google’s unusual step of publicising the Chrome browser on its notoriously clutter-free homepage is an indication of the plans that Google has for this browser…

“This is a phenomenal performance,” commented Aodhan Cullen, “this is war on Microsoft but the big loser could be Firefox.”

While Google may have the Internet Explorer market share in its sights, the fact that many Firefox users are more “mobile” as far as browser use is concerned, may impact on the current Firefox market share.

Note: The StatCounter analysis was conducted today, Wednesday, 03 September 2008, and was based on a sample of 18.5 million page views globally. The analysis identified that Internet Explorer holds 70% of the global browser market followed by Firefox with 22%.

  1. We did not plant to install this this crap but after the hype, we decided to put it on a test machine. For a few hours, it sucked in our humble opinion (still in love with FireFox) but afterwards, it started to grow on us.

Going to wait six months before ading it to the office machines.

  2. I began to use Chrome a few weeks ago.I like its speed and simplicity. But I’m still not so used to it.I guess Chrome grabs about 2% a day.

  3. we need the google bar on the chrome.

It looks that chrome is correcting my righting but it doesn’t recognise the name google, it returns as a wrong word.

Any way is very good this option, for me that I’m Portuguese….

    Very good

  4. The google updater always sends information over to google servers. Not only can you see it in your taskbar, my ZoneAlarm detects these outbound communications. It’s fishy.

  5. in ‘Chrome’ it is said that a full office suite is included. I donno where it is. If so it is worth trying.

  6. I find that Opera browser works better on computers with low ram 64mb etc. Don’t know why people are saying Chrime is best for low ram when Opera is better.
